About us...

The Principal Attorney, John R Allsop, who established the practice in 1984, has over 25 years of experience working with IP matters including litigious issues, both in the UK and abroad.

John holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Physics and a Law degree from the University of London.  He is qualified to act as a Patent Trademark and Design attorney both before the European Patent Office in Munich, Germany, the United Kingdom IP Office and OHIM (European Community Trade Mark and Design Office) Alicante, Spain.

His experience prior to setting up his own IP practice in 1984 includes several years as a patent examiner at the Australian Patent Office and working in an IP law firm in the USA mainly in the prosecution of patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office.

He also has extensive industrial experience including in research and development in the lamp division of General Electric in Cleveland Ohio, USA and in civil engineering in the UK.

John has also served on the Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.
